Bloom Where You're Planted is a full-day orientation program designed to offer valuable information to help ease the transition of relocating to Paris.   There are numerous seminars presented by knowledgeable speakers as well as an extensive Exhibit Hall with organizations who offer services to the expat community.  In addition to the seminars, registrants will receive a light breakfast, lunch, and a wine and cheese "Wine Down". There will also be book signings, networking opportunities, and a gift bag with give-aways and useful information.

Each adult will receive the new 42nd edition of Bloom Where You're Planted, the newcomers' essential guide book containing over 350 pages of practical information for day-to-day living in Paris.  (Couples will receive 1 book).

Children will participate in a wonderful program filled with activities to help them acclimate to their new home...play games that the French children play, make crepes, and learn some French.   We also provide childcare for our youngest participants up to 3 years of age.  Snacks and lunch included.

What the day includes:

We have an exciting morning planned:

  • Discovering Paris - Look at Parisian architecture and history with author/historian Peter Caine, tour guide and owner of PARIS WALKS.
  • Living the Sweet Life in Paris - Author of six cookbooks, pastry chef extraordinaire, and foodie blogger and tour guide, the humorous and charming David Lebovitz will share "how he came to fall in love with - and even understand - this glorious, maddening city."
  • Feeling at Home - Melissa Dalton-Bradford, author of Global Mom: Sixteen Addresses, Eight Countries, Five Languages, and One Family, has lived internationally for over 20 years.  She'll offer insight into what it means to be a "Third Culture" family and tips on how to adapt and truly make Paris your home.

12:00 - 14:00  Lunch, Exhibits, and Connecting - enjoy a delicious lunch, network with fellow participants, and visit the Exhibitor Hall where over 30 social, service and business organizations will be available to share how they can help you settle into the Parisian life.

The afternoon will consist of 9 break-out sessions covering a variety of topics.  Each registrant can choose to attend one session per time slot.  Please note that when you register, you will be asked to select the sessions of your choice.  The title of each session should give a clear idea of the topic to be covered but if you need more detailed information on each session, please visit the Bloom website at bloom.acparis.org.

We will end the day with a "Wine Down".  You will be able to sample and learn about wine from 5 different regions of France and celebrate the beginning of your new life in "The City of Lights."
