Child Protection Induction Training (Level 1)

What is the training about?

This half day training will help you develop safeguarding child protection awareness, learn to identify different types of abuse and understand the importance of taking action.

Who should attend?

  • Professionals, staff and volunteers whose work brings them into contact with children and young people, their parents and carers specifically in the above sectors and/or
  • those who are involved in receiving or sending foreign students on exchange programmes, language studies or other cultural or educational activities and/or
  • those who work with volunteers and host families or others (paid or unpaid) to help organise activities and programmes for children and young people (through homestay, residential or other provision).

Learning outcomes by the end of the training

  • Describe what child abuse is and how to recognise signs and indicators of abuse
  • Explore attitudes and feelings in relation to child protection work •Know the relevant legislation and guidance frameworks
  • Respond appropriately to concerns, understand roles and responsibilities regarding safety and welfare of children and young people
  • Identify barriers that children, young people, parents, carers and staff may experience when identifying concerns
  • Recognise normal child development whilst maintaining a child focus.

This training is compliant with Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) Standards and meets the Level One criteria.   The course has been revised to include bespoke information relevant to the Youth Travel sector.
