ABOUT THE EVENT
IARS 3rd international Annual Conference is titled "A victim-led criminal justice system for Europe" and will be held in London on the 19th and 20th November 2014. The event is partly financed by the European Commission under the project "Restorative Justice in Europe: Safeguarding Victims and Empowering Professionals" which aims to facilitate the implementation of the Victims' Directive 2012/29/EU of the European Parliament and the of the Council of 25 October 2012. This is a CPD accredited event that will be chaired by IARS' Founder & Director - Professor Dr. Theo Gavrielides and RJE Programme Leader. Confirmed speakers include:
19th November (9:00 - 17:30)
- Alison Saunders, Director of Public Prosecutors
- Olivier Tell - Head of Criminal Justice of the Directorate General Justice – European Commission
- Baroness Helen Newlove - The Victims’ Commissioner UK
- Sir George Newman - The Surveillance Commissioner and IARS' Patron
- Representatives from the 5 RJE project partner countries will present their victim-led project findings.
- Olivier Tell - Head of Unit Directorate General Justice – European Commission
- Jeremy Wright - The Justice Minister
- Gabrielle Browne, victim and Independent Advisor for the Restorative Justice in Europe project
- 4 parralel workshop sessions will be delivered by international researchers. A Call for Abstracts has been released (Submission Deadline 15 July)

The conference will close with an evening reception kindly hosted by Lord McNally, Chair of the Youth Justice Board at the House of Lords. The reception will also see the launch of the IARS book Gavrielides, T. (2014), A victim-led criminal justice system for Europe: Addressing the paradox (£9.99 RRP).

Victims and offenders who wish to submit a topic for presentation at the conference and cannot afford the registration fee are kindly requested to apply for a fee waver by emailing contact@iars.org.uk giving reasons for their application and by attaching their proposed title and abstract (300 words).
EARLY BIRD TICKETS are available until 31st August at 20% discounted rate. After this date, the Early Bird tickets options will be removed and the full cost will be displayed only.
