Not everyone is at ease speaking before an audience, yet our jobs often require it.  In this free seminar, IEM Instructor Don Appleby will share his personal strategies for developing and delivering professional presentations with greater confidence.

Don Appleby is a technology consultant with nearly four decades of experience in enterprise system design, implementation, and support.  He is retired from IBM, where he held positions in systems engineering, product sales, technical sales support, software defect support, billable services, technical project management, and quality assurance processes.  He has also authored papers and spoken at conferences on the subject of solution assurance methodologies.  

Mr. Appleby has been an instructor in the UAB School of Engineering since 2004, teaching courses in the IEM track of the Master of Engineering Program.  He is the Founder and President of Incur Consulting, a company focused on developing innovative teaching methods to serve working professionals.  He is also the author of Effective Speaking: An Introvert’s Guide to Making Presentations.

Mr. Appleby holds a BSIM degree (with highest honor) from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MSEE from UAB.  He has completed additional graduate courses in quantitative methods, modeling and simulation, and artificial intelligence.
